LOVE is a battlefield
title: the the
date: Saturday, June 28, 2008

so i was recalling things that happened in my past. and the farthest [oldest] i can reach is when i first started to read. i was about 4 years old. and i was holding this green grade 1 book. i flipped the pages. and there i saw 3 monkeys. papa monkey.mama monkey. and baby monkey. then under the picture. was a story. i can't remember how. but i do know that i already know how to read by then.maybe slowly [by syllables].
i was reading it out loud and i kept on repeating the story. i was soo proud of my self. it's like my first big achievement as a person. but there was this word. that were stated numerous times. and yes. i can't read it. what word? the article "the". i asked my mom on how to read it. and she never told me how. i remember her saying. "kaya mo yan. ulit ulitin mo lang". i guess this was her way for me build my self-learning skills. she was just there to say "no" if i got it wrong.
"de?"
"tha-e?"
"te?"
NAME IT. everything. but "the". sheesh. eventually. i gave up.. CRAP MEN. i can read "mon-keys" but i can't read "the".

next day. [i guess] my kinder teacher asked us if anyone could read. being proud of my newly acquired skill. i raised my hand. i could blurly remember me, standing in the middle of the class. holding out this book with HUGE letters. then there. i saw my nightmare. "the"
before i could even try to read the word. i stopped. looked blankly at the book. and wished that the book could read "THE' by itself. noticing that such wish couldn't be granted. DUH-UH
i asked my teacher on how to read it. then there. she told me. "the" [th-a]. i was like. OOOHHHH. xDD ahaha.

nice experience right? school might be boring. but at least it teaches us SOMEthing. :)
